This year’s Caritas Luncheon in Bismarck will honor Leon and Alicia Heick, a couple whose lives reflect the true meaning of Caritas—love and compassion lived out through service to others.
Leon dedicated 32 years to NISC/NCDC as a programming consultant and assistant manager before continuing his career as an auditor for the State of North Dakota. Alicia served an incredible 58 years as a registered nurse, caring for patients in surgical, neuro, and labor and delivery units and later educating future nurses as a tenured assistant professor at Dickinson State University.
Together, they have built a strong family rooted in faith, raising three sons and celebrating four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Their commitment to service extends far beyond their careers. From their first mission trip in Guatemala to their time as missionaries in Kisii, Kenya, Leon and Alicia have cared for those most in need—supporting clinics for AIDS orphans, providing medical care, and assisting with housing and financial stability. Since 2014, they have continued this mission by supporting a family in Africa with food, medical care, and education.
Closer to home, the Heicks remain active in their community—sharing their love of music at Corpus Christi Parish and local nursing homes, volunteering with Stepping Stone Ministries, and supporting St. Bernard’s Mission in Fort Yates.
Leon and Alicia’s lives are a powerful example of faithful service, generosity, and love in action. The Caritas Luncheon honoring Leon and Alicia Heick will be held on June 8, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Bismarck.
