DISASTERS TAKE MANY SHAPES and the effects can be as varied as the people affected.

After a disaster, emergency relief and recovery services are provided by Catholic Charities North Dakota including direct financial assistance for food, shelter or other needed items, counseling and support.  These services are provided regardless of race, creed, or socio-economic status.

Long term recovery efforts provide humanitarian aid to vulnerable populations, including materials for rebuilidng homes or vendor payments to aid in restoring lost utilities (sewer, septic tank, water well), and assistance to help people move on in recovery from the disaster.  Catholic Charities North Dakota works in conjunction with other members of North Dakota's Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD).

In times of disaster, the U.S. Catholic Community is there to help.  Catholic Charities USA's Disaster Operations coordinates the Catholic Church's response to disasters in the United States and grants relief funds to local Catholic Charities aagencies, such as Catholic Charities North Dakota.
