       When people are not able to gather and evaluate the information necessary to make good decisions for themselves because of their situation or disability, they are at risk of being taken advantage of, abused, neglected or not receiving needed medical or other services. When this type of situation occurs, a guardianship may be established to protect that person.
 
         Many requests for corporate guardianship are due to life threatening situations, medical emergencies, abuse or neglect issues, psychiatric difficulties, financial exploitation and the need for appropriate housing/residential services. These are very vulnerable people who are at tremendous risk and corporate guardianship offers a safety net. These programs are provided by licensed professional staff and are based on the specific needs of each individual. As guardian, CCND's paramount responsibility is to safeguard each ward's health, safety and habilitation by ensuring that the necessary care, service and supervision are provided.
